Renting a car in the city is one of the best alternatives, especially in an environment where it is not advisable to use public transport for safety reasons. In the city you can also get a private car from the airport to Mogadishu city center. Private vehicles are usually used by the residents of the city and they take the guests from the terminal to the city center. The airport also has pausing, waiting and parking areas reserved for those arriving by private vehicle. You have a chance to leave your car in these parking lots for a few hours or a few days. However, remember that parking fees are not very low, especially if you pay after 3 days. If you want to get a private car between the airport and the city center, obtaining a navigation device would be lifesaving.
