Located in the Gaziemir district, 18 km from the city center, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is accessible by Havaş shuttles, public buses, train, taxi or personal car. You can also rent a car from various car rental agencies at the airport or in various locations in the city.

Havaş

Havaş shuttles that take off from Çeşme, Alsancak, Karşıyaka-Mavişehir and Kuşadası are the most preferred means of transportation to the airport.

These buses stop at certain central locations to pick up passengers or transport passengers to bus stops.   

Bus

Adnan Menderes Airport is accessible using the bus lines 200 (Mavişehir), 202 (Alsancak), and 204 (Bornova). If you don’t have a Kentkart (smart card for fare payment) you can buy a 3-5 ticket (üç-beş bilet), which has 2, 3, or 5 credits on it.

Train

The fastest way to get to the airport is by train. Adnan Menderes Airport is located in between the Sarnic and Cumaovasi stops. You can get to Adnan Menderes Airport by using the Izban Train, which serves the route between Aliağa-Tepeköy.  

Taxi

You can find a taxi at any hour in front of the terminal. If you’re travelling far from the airport consider negotiating with the taxi driver for a lower fare.

Personal Car

Adnan Menderes Airport has a multi-story parking lot that is connected to both the arrivals and departures terminal. The parking lot has a capacity of 2,237 vehicles.

You can rent a car at Adnan Menderes Airport from the following car rental agencies: Payless, Yes Oto National, Sixt, Avis, Işıl Tur, Zafer, Duray, Europcar, Hertz, Sun and Central

Cafes, bars and restaurants located in the terminal include Cafe İzmir, Cafe Nero, Express-o Busgate, Express-o Hava, Express-o Kara, Gloria Jean's Cafe, Kantin, Ekmekarası Café, Beer Port Bar, Burger King, and Ton-Ton.

In addition, if you want to go shopping you can visit the Old Bazaar, Gift Shops, Desa, Alsancak, Toyzz Shop, D&R, Samsonite, Simpark Tobacco Shop, Duty Free Shop and Setur stores.   

Passengers who want to spend time in the terminal can explore the exhibition at the TAV Gallery in the international departures hall or watch TV and connect to the internet while enjoying food and beverage service at the Comfort Lounge or Millenium Lounge.

For transportation to Adareil, you can fly to the Khartoum International Airport, which hosts regular flights to and from many destinations. The transportation options are extremely limited in Khartoum, the capital and second largest city of Sudan. In order to get to Adareil from the capital, you can take a taxi at the airport and go to the bus terminal that is only a few kilometers away. There you can take a bus to reach directly to Adareil. You can also take advantage of taking a taxi at Khartoum International Airport to reach Adareil directly, but please keep in mind that this will be much more expensive compared to intercity bus services.

Taxi

Taxi is the first choice of visitors since there is no public transport from Khartoum International Airport to reach Adareil city center directly. You can arrive at the bus terminal in a very short time by taking a taxi from the airport, which is located in a very central area of the capital, and then you can take an intercity bus in the Adareil direction from the terminal. You can also prefer to reach Adareil directly by taxi. However, the taxi ride from Khartoum to Adareil would be a costly alternative. The taxi ride from the airport to Khartoum city center will cost around 20-30$.

Bus

You can go out of the airport terminal and take one of the local buses and minibusses passing by, so you can get to Khartoum city center cheaper. However, this may sound highly complicated to the visitors who are not familiar with the city because they may lose their sense of direction easily. Once you reach Khartoum city center by bus, you may need to take a bus or taxi once again to get to the bus terminal, where you will get on the bus to Adareil.

The bus ride in the city is often considered safe during the day, but you should be more careful about your safety at night. If your budget is not very limited, you can enjoy a fast and safe trip by choosing the taxi option instead of the bus ride.

Rent a car

After landing at Khartoum International Airport, you can also take advantage of renting a car to reach Adareil as another alternative. The passengers who would especially like to make a stop at different points on the road and make a flexible travel plan can rent a car in Khartoum to reach Adareil without thinking too much. When it comes to disadvantages of car rental option, one can say that the direction signs in Sudan are mostly very complicated and difficult to understand. If you have never been to the area before and if you are planning to travel by car for the first time, you are recommended to put car rental option aside and get on a bus to the terminal for bus transfer to Adareil.

Private Transfer Services

The use of private transfer service is not particularly common on this route. However, if you are traveling to Adareil for an event or organization, you can arrange a private transfer service vehicle for yourself by getting assistance from local officials and guides. The private transfer service, much more comfortable and safer than buses, will make your trip to Sudan much easier. You can take advantage of this service just to get to the bus terminal from Khartoum International Airport as well. To do so, you should inform the service company of your arrival time in advance and you may have to wait for a while in front of the terminal building. If you want to travel without waiting, you can take a taxi at the terminal exit of Khartoum International Airport.
