However, rickshaws do not travel long distances. Rickshaws travel a maximum of 1-2 kilometers, making them ideal to use for a city tour. As well as using taxis and transfer services, you can also rent a car to make your way to Lusaka city centre from the 27 kilometres away Lusaka Airport. You have to use private means of transportation, as there is no direct public transportation to central Lusaka from Lusaka Airport. It’s possible to reach the centre in 30-35 minutes from the airport.

The taxis that wait outside Lusaka Airport arrivals terminal provide comfortable service 24/7. You can get to central Lusaka from Lusaka Airport in 30 minutes for a fare of only around 30-40 dollars.

Car Rental

Even though Lusaka Airport is not that big, there are two international car rental agency offices in the terminal building. You can pick from Avis (+260211271020) or Europcar (+260211271221. If you make a reservation before you arrive to Lusaka Airport then you can pick up your vehicle and head towards the centre without wasting any time. You can reach central Lusaka in 35 minutes with your rented car by taking the Great E/T4 road in a maximum of 35 minutes.
