There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

It is possible to reach Tegucigalpa city center from Toncontin International Airport in 10-15 minutes by using a taxi or renting a car. If you have enough time and want to reduce your transportation cost, you can get on a bus. In addition, some hotels in the city also offer airport shuttle service for their guests.

Taxi

Taxis are waiting for their customers at the exit of the airport. You can reach the city center in about 10 minutes by using a taxi. You can agree on the taxi fare before getting on any taxi. In this way, you will not pay more than necessary.

Car Rental        

You can rent a car at the airport for a comfortable travel. You can reach the city center after a 5-km travel on the highway CA-5 with the car you will rent at the airport. While driving, be careful not to drive around deserted places and go away from the center especially at night hours.

Hotel Shuttle

Some accommodation centers in Tegucigalpa offer airport shuttle service for their guests. In addition, this service is for free in some hotels. Contact your hotel in advance to find out if they offer airport shuttle service and whether you need to pay an additional amount for this service. If it is suitable for you, you can reach your hotel effortlessly by informing your arrival time and making a reservation in advance.

Bus

There is a bus stop located about 1 km away from the airport. If your luggage is not heavy, you can walk to the stop and take the buses going to the city center from here. In this way, you can reduce your transportation costs. However, you should remember that it is better not to use the buses at late hours.
