There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

Lugano Airport, also known as Lugano-Agno Airport, is the central airport of Agno, Bioggio, Muzzano, Milan and Lugano settlements in Switzerland and it is located 80 kilometers north of Milan and 4 kilometers west of Lugano city center. Once you arrive at Lugano-Agno Airport, you can reach the city center taking public transportation such as train and bus, as well as you may prefer private transportation alternatives. You can either take an airport taxi or take advantage of the airport transfer services of your hotel if available. You will possibly arrive at Lugano city center from Lugano-Agno Airport in 5 or 10 minutes maximum.

Train

It is possible to reach Lugano city center in a very short time by train at Line 60 route operated by Swiss Railways. The total journey time lasts 13 minutes on Line 60 train and you are charged approximately 9-17 Swiss Francs (65-120TL) for one-way ticket. If you want to get on Line 60 train that departs every 30 minutes, you just need to go out of the terminal building once you arrive at Lugano-Agno Airport.

Bus

The most practical way to get to Lugano city center from Lugano-Agno Airport is undoubtedly the bus ride. The bus no 16, run by Swiss PostAuto, takes you directly to Lugano city center in a very short time which is meant 10-14 minutes. One-way ticket for the bus 16 which departs by the hour costs approximately 1-3 Swiss Francs (10-15 TL).

Taxi

You can easily reach Lugano city center in 10 minutes or go to Agno, Bioggio, Muzzano and Milan by taking a taxi waiting just outside the arrival terminal of Lugano-Agno Airport. If you cannot find an airport taxi, you can call a taxi to where you are. The most popular taxi companies providing transfer services in the city are Taxi Michel (+41 91 967 24 24) and Grand Taxi Lugano (+41 79 102 69 30).

Rent a car

If you prefer a comfortable and fast transfer option, you can take advantage of car rental services to reach the city center from Lugano-Agno Airport. If you search for local and international car rental companies at the airport and make a reservation in advance, you can pick up the car more quickly when you arrive at the airport.
