There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.  

Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

Craiova Airport is just a few kilometers from Craiova city center. Buses depart from the terminal building of Craiova Airport, which is active 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Bus services start early in the morning and run until late hours at night for the passengers who would like to go to the city center. As an alternative to the bus, you can always find a taxi in front of the terminal building of Craiova Airport. It is possible to reach the city center from Craiova Airport in about 15 minutes by taxi or by bus.

Bus

The bus number 9 connect Craiova Airport and the city center directly to each other. You can find the buses running from 5:30 am at the stops in front of the Craiova Airport terminal. The last bus service departing from Craiova Airport to the city center is at 11 pm. You can get information from the information desk at Craiova Airport on bus tickets, fares, bus stops in the city center and so on; you can also talk to bus drivers and get more detailed information before arriving at Craiova city center.

Taxi

It is possible to travel to the city center by taxi from Craiova Airport, which is about 7 kilometers away. Taking a taxi may be a bit more costly than taking a bus; however, you can prefer taxi option for your journey from the airport to the city center without hesitation thanks to its advantages such as enough room for your luggage and fast transportation. Taxi fares may increase slightly at nights and on holidays at Craiova Airport terminal. Please keep in mind that you can negotiate with taxi drivers about average fares before getting in a taxi and then choose between taxi and bus. If you are going to land at the airport late at night or very early in the morning, the taxi could be said to be the only option you can take since there is no bus service at these hours. Visitors who are planning to stay in the area for a few weeks or more can also prefer renting a car.

Rent a car

After arriving at Craiova Airport, you can go directly to the car rental offices in the terminal and rent a car to reach Craiova city center. You can rent a car from companies such as Simbra, Autonom, 4C and AVIS at Craiova Airport. The passengers arriving at the airport during the hours when car rental offices are closed can take a taxi to the city center of Craiova. If you would like to travel to other cities near Craiova, you can take advantage of car rental option for your trip. Alternatively, you can also travel to other cities around by taking a bus from the bus terminal after arriving at the city center.
