There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

You can also book a car rental without going to the rental car company before hand or you can ask your hotel for help. For those who do not want to choose other types of transportation, the option of renting a car gives you more freedom.

Taxi

You can quickly get to the city center from the airport by taxis which are located at the airport terminal exit. Taking into consideration the number of people and the number of cases you have, the average taxi fare varies between $25 and $55. Before getting in a taxi to reach the city center, try to negotiate the price with the driver first.

Hotel Services

When you book your hotel, you can check if an airport transfer option is one of the facilities offered to you to avoid any problems during your journey. If you have a lot of baggage this type of transportation can be one of your best choices. The average price of these services, which takes you from the airport to your hotel, varies between $5 and $20 per person.

Airport Buses

By getting on the correct bus from the airport terminal to the city center you can get off at the nearest bus stop to your hotel. The bus ticket is $10 and there are also several other bus lines from the airport providing transportation to the city center. The pricing of these buses varies according to the length of the ticket you receive.
