About Sopron

Being a commercial town during Roman Empire period, Sopron was once under the ruling of Ottoman Empire as well. This city faced the danger of extinction due to a fire in the 17. century, and was rebuilt right after this disaster. Sopron had important tasks in World War II due to its strategic location, and was destroyed badly during that war. Holy Trinity Statue, where the historic statues are located in the city centre, and Fire Tower, where the unique view of the city could be watched, are the two spots the tourists visit the most. Also, the city is also famous for the vine production. The population of the city is 60 thousand; including both the Hungarians and the Germans.
