About Phoenix

Phoenix is home to one of the busiest airports in America, as well as being a major economic and cultural center of the Southwestern U.S. With a population of 1.5 million, its the capital and largest city of Arizona. Nestled in the Sun Valley, the city's population climbs to nearly 5 million when factoring in the surrounding towns and suburbs. The city gains a lot of importance due to both its plentiful natural resources as well as its stragetic geographic location. Starting out as a major center of both copper and cotton production, after the Second World War it rapidly expanded into the telecommunications and service industries.

Nestled in the middle of a desert, Phoenix is one of America's warmest cities, where the summer is many months long and the winters are short and mild. The sun shines in Phoenix rougly 330 days of the year, and the temperatures remain constant (and favorable for visiting) the entire year.

The surrounding natural areas of Phoenix are austere yet beautiful, some of which are world-famous. The Grand Canyon, Papago Park, Camelback Mountain, the Desert Botanical Garden, the Arizona Science Center and the Phoenix Zoo are all major attractions showcasing the beauty and diversity of natural life in the area.
