A British Overseas Territory, Gibraltar is located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. According to the 2012 census the city had a population of 30 thousand. The city’s name means the ‘Mountain of Tariq’, referring to the Rock of Gibraltar, after Tariq ibn-Ziyad, an Umayyad general, led his soldiers into the area.

The peninsula is the only British territory in Europe and has an ethnically rich structure. The region is home to British, Spanish, Genoese, Portuguese individuals, just to name a few.
