About Didim

The history of Didim, which was dominated by the Cretans, Achaeans, Mycenaeans, Persians, Romans, Byzantines and finally Turks, dates back to the ancient periods. Didim, whose name was Didyma in the ancient period, is one of the calmest and peaceful holiday destinations of Turkey. Didim, which is the first choice of the families with children thanks to its blue-flag beaches and shallow sea, offers a unique experience for its visitors with its natural beauties and historical texture. The places that you should definitely visit in Didim are Altınkum Beach which is located 2 km of the city center and has the most luxurious holiday resorts of the town, the Temple of Apollo, which is an amazing Ionian work of art (entrance fee is 10 TL-2017), Miletus Theatre and Miletus Museum having a capacity of about 19 thousand people, Saplı Islet where you can watch the breathtaking sunset views and Bafa Lake National Park which is 16 km away from Didim.

In Didim, many cultural events and festivals are organized every year. Some of these events and festivals are: Didim Olive Festival (November), Peace Festival (September), International Folk Dances Festival (August), Didim Altinkum Authors Festival (July), Apollo Motofest (June), Regional Products Festival (April) and International Dance Festival (April). In Didim, it is possible to try tastes specific to the Aegean cuisine. You can also try the world cuisines in most of the hotels surrounding Altınkum Beach.

The period between April and September is the best time to visit Didim, which is a district of Aydın province having Muğla in the east and İzmir in the north. You can reach Didim from many cities of Turkey by bus. You can also prefer air transportation. The closest Airport to Didim is Bodrum Airport but you can also prefer İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport or Muğla Dalaman Airport.
