About Bursa

Bursa is one of Turkey’s most populous cities, with a population of 2.7 million . It is also one of the country's most important industrial cities. There are many monuments dating back to Ottoman times, since it served as the capital of the empire for some time. The highlights of the Ottoman period include Ulu Cami (Great Mosque), Emir Sultan Mosque, and Cumalıkızık, which is a village famous for its historical houses. Other places to visit include Uludağ, Mudanya, Trilye, Oylat, Lake Ulubat, and Iznik. Summers in Bursa are hot with little rainfall, and winters are mild and rainy. Rain is replaced by snow at higher altitudes.

Tofaş-Fiat, Oyak-Renault and Karsan have automotive production sites in this leading industrial city of Turkey. Textile production in Bursa is advanced, too. The Uludağ University, Bursa Technical University, and Orhangazi University are institutions offering tertiary education in Bursa.  Bursa is reached by air through the Yenişehir Airport, which is far away from the city. However, Bursa is also easily reached from Istanbul, as many sea buses operated by the local Istanbul and Bursa governments constantly depart from each city, with the voyage taking around 2 hours. The subway and trams provide inner-city transportation.
