Habarovsk, the easternmost region of Russia, which is the largest country in the world, starting from Eastern Europe and reaching to the Pacific Ocean, is located on the Chinese border. One of the two airports of Habarovsk, located in the Far East Federal District, is in the town of Bogorodskoye. The town of Bogorodskoye, along the Amur River, is 790 kilometers away from Habarovsk. The temperature in Habarovsk, which is regarded as one of the smoothest spots in the country, sees the lowest -1 degrees Celsius. This is why trade and the economy in Habarovsk, hosting oil refinery, iron and steel industry, packaging industry and light machinery manufacturing, is more livelier than many Far Eastern regions. With the advantage of being located on the Chinese border, customers can reach many products cheaper.
Another characteristic of the region is that the world famous Trans-Siberian Railway passes through it. There are remnants of prehistoric times in the Habarovks, which do not have a lot of features in terms of tourism, and on the banks of the Amur River which runs through Bogorodskoye. Christianity came to the region with the arrival of the Russians. The churches and monasteries built in this period are the most important structures of the Habarovsk region. The most important structure is the Habarovsk Cathedral in Habarovsk, the capital city of the region.
The city center is only a few kilometers away from Bogorodskoye Airport and reachable in a short amount of time through some different transport options. The quickest method is to take one of the taxis waiting at the terminal exit. If you prefer to use public transport you use a ‘marşrutka’, a type of minibus. This inexpensive journey should take you to the city center in 10-15 minutes, however since the vehicles are quite small it’s not advisable to use them if you are a large group or have a lot of luggage. There’s no rental car agency in the airport so renting a car isn’t an option to reach the city center, but you can rent one from the car rental agencies in the city once you get there.Last Updated: February 21, 2017
