About Anamur

Anamur, which is one of the 13 districts of Mersin province in the Mediterranean Region, has mutated from the Ancient Greek "Anemourion” meaning windmill. It is located in the southernmost corner of Turkey as it can also be understood from its name. In Anamur where the endangered Caretta Caretta sea turtles lay eggs, there are also Mediterranean seals in the rocky parts of the coasts. The distance between Antalya and Anamur, which is 230 kilometers of Mersin, is 265 kilometers. It is also located 76 kilometers of Cyprus. The district is reached from the highway Mersin – Antalya. The distance between the district and Alanya Gazipaşa Airport which is the closest airport is about 89 kilometers. Transportation to the airport is provided with HAVAŞ, private transfer and taxi.

There are many historical places to be visited in Anamur. Some of these places are the ancient city of Titiopolis remaining from the 4th century BC, Ala Bridge constructed by the Karamanids in the 14th century, Ak Mosque and Marmure Castle remaining from the Karamanids and Anamur Museum. It is believed that respiration in the Köşekbükü cave, located in Ovabaşı village of the district, cures asthma. Çukurpınar Cave in the Olucak village which is located 25 kilometers of Anamur is the 35th deepest cave of the world.
