About Akyaka

Akyaka, Turkey's kitesurfing paradise, is one of the most economical and quiet holiday resort towns of Muğla. Located in the Ula district, Akyaka has an excellent location between Marmaris and Muğla. Thanks to its fertile soil, Muğla is the most common place for agriculture and Akyaka has many alternative accommodation options such as ecological holiday villages, boutique hotels and apart hotels. If you also like to camp, you can take a look at the campsites near Akyaka's famous Azmak River. Akyaka, which was declared as a natural site in 1988, is a cittaslow - slow city member, just like Sığacık in Seferihisar district of İzmir. Main sights in Akyaka and its surrounding areas include Çınar Bay, Sedir Island, Akyaka Village, Akyaka Beach, Değirmenbükü, Boncuk Bay, Küfre Bay, Ancient City Idyma Remains, Sakartep in the north of Akyaka, and Azmak river famous for its crystal clear and very cold water. Because Akyaka area is a small place, transportation is usually provided by minibuses. To go to Muğla city center You can take a minibus from Akyaka.

You can taste delicious olive oil dishes, delicacies, seafood and many more unique to the Aegean cuisine in the restaurants by Akyaka's magnificent Azmak River. Watching the sunset by the river is incredibly enjoyable. Akyaka's most popular restaurants are Azmakkapı Restaurant, Cennet (Paradise) Restaurant, Orfoz Restaurant and Halil's Place. Akyaka's most famous festival is the Fish Tasting Festival, which has been held since 2015.

Situated between Bodrum and Datça peninsulas, which are the most beautiful places of Muğla without question, Akyaka is located on Muğla-Marmaris highway. Muğla Dalaman Airport is about 70 kilometers from Akyaka and 103 kilometers from Bodrum Airport. After arriving at the airport, you can rent a car or get on the Marmaris minibus and say to the drive that you will get off in Akyaka.
